ARTIFACTS & ARTWORK MAINTENANCE

Inspection routines can be broken down in a number of ways; daily, weekly, and longer-period inspections are perhaps the easiest for staff to put in place and maintain.
Check artifacts and storage units located in different parts of the display area for signs of insect infestation. In addition, look for accumulated dust or debris, as such traces are an indication of problems. Dust is abrasive and it also reacts with moisture to accelerate chemical degradation, making it important to keep the area as clean as possible. If necessary, perform regular housekeeping procedures: vacuum the area (but not the artifacts)
